Course structure
Part I of Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
The modules offered in Part 1 of the Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme will enable you to understand the electrical and electronic engineering fundamentals starting with the science of elementary particles called electrons. You will be able to apply theories and principles of science and mathematics to solve practical technical problems with basic knowledge and skills of the electrical elements, components and devices to construct simple electrical and electronic circuits. There are also modules that provide study skills as well as business and communication and information technology skills.
Part II of Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
The modules provided in Part 2 of the Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme provide you with knowledge of most electrical components, instruments and devices operation and behaviour such as electric and magnetic fields, analogue and digital electronics, machines and control, telecommunication and communication engineering, microprocessor and programming technology. This makes your job opportunities much wider.

FoundationMMU's Foundation Programmes are administered by the Centre of Foundation Studies and Extension Education. They are of interest to school leavers seeking to enrol MMU's Degree level programmes directly from SPM or O Levels. The duration of the foundation programme is 1 year.
DiplomaThe Centre of Diploma Programmes manages the university's Diploma Programmes. These programmes last 2 and a half years. The majority of our diploma holders later enrol in our Degree Programmes for further studies. Entry requirements include O Levels or A Levels.
DegreeBachelor's Degree level programmes are offered by the university's seven faculties and are the natural learning progression after passing the university's Foundation or Diploma Programmes. Direct entry students require either STPM, A Levels or a Diploma.

Master or PhD Degree with Thesis

Master or PhD Degree with Thesis
Students pursuing the Master or PhD degree with thesis shall:
complete a minimum of 9 credits and maximum of 18 credits (Master Degree programme) and a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 36 credits (PhD Degree programme) of coursework;
submit a thesis for examination at the end of the programme; and
comply with the specific requirements of the relevant graduate programme, if any.
Master Degree without Thesis
Students pursuing the Master degree without thesis shall fulfill a minimum of 36 credits of coursework
The submission of a thesis is not a requirement but the student may be required to:
Submit a project report or case study equivalent to 4 – 6 credits; or in lieu,
In case of certain programmes where a project or case study is not required, the student is required to register additional courses to fulfill the requirement of 36 credits and pass a Comprehensive Examination which adheres to the following rules:
a Comprehensive Examination shall be conducted at the end of the final semester
the student will be given two opportunities to pass the examination.
The second examination (if necessary) must be taken sixty (60) days after the first examination.
Failure on the second attempt will result in termination of his candidature.
(Note: PhD degree without thesis is currently not available)
The SGS administers, supervises and coordinates postgraduate programmes in all fields of studies except business and management. However, these postgraduates programmes are run by faculties. Programmes with thesis consist of:
Master of Arts (M.A)
Master of Science (M.S)
Master of Veterinary Sciences (M.V.Sc.)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
